The foliage emerges a vibrant dark red and mature to a glossy dark green with bright red edges. In winter, the leaves take a bronze to burgundy-red colouration. In late spring, small white flowers are produced. This plant enjoys a position in full shade to partial shade with a moist but well-drained soil.
